New concert venue for Bakewell Choral Society

Bakewell Choral Society will be performing at the Whitworth Centre, Darley Dale, for the first time.

Their concert, entitled Songs for a Summer Evening, is on June 18, at 7.30pm.

The programme includes popular songs in new arrangements: standards such as Autumn Leaves and S’wonderful, plus old favourites, The Londonderry Air and An Irish Blessing. The choir will also perform The Bridal Chorus by Mendelssohn and Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Verdi’s Nabucco. The choir will be joined by soprano Debra Morley.They will be

accompanied by Amanda Kornas on piano, and conducted by Alan Eost.

Tickets £10 (students, accompanied children free) from Bakewell Bookshop, choir members or on the door or by post from Elizabeth Butcher, The Gabled House, South Church Street, Bakewell, DE45 1FD (cheque made payable to Bakewell Choral Society).
