Kids urged to go and enjoy forests

CHILDREN are being urged to become young forest explorers and enjoy natural play at Sherwood Pines Forest Park.

Latest research has revealed nearly three quarters of people interviewed thought playing in woods is good for children’s health, and almost everyone agreed woodlands are places where people can enjoy themselves.

But an increasing number said they were too busy to make time for a visit.

Many people have great stories to tell of building dens, climbing trees or clambering over fallen logs, and forest chiefs want children to get out and enjoy the great outdoors this summer holiday.

Chair of the Forestry Commission Pam Warhurst said: “Woods are a wonderful environment for children to experience healthy fun in the outdoors.”
