Jones Homes Yorkshire has reported a significant amount of interest from potential purchasers at its developments across the region, as a growing number of buyers opt for new-build properties.

The developer said that while it had received a steady stream of enquiries while lockdown restrictions were in force, the reopening of sites had resulted in a release of pent-up demand.

Jayne Swift, sales and marketing director at the company, said: “Throughout the last few months we have seen a strong level of interest in our developments, with a high number of enquiries from buyers interested in purchasing a new-build home.

“While the social distancing measures we have in place, which include one-to-one appointments only, mean that we are having to limit the number of visitors to our sites, we are finding that those who do visit are extremely committed to beginning their home-moving journey.

“We did see a surge in enquiries once the Government lifted the restrictions on the housing market. That level of activity has been sustained ever since, and we have noticed a shift among buyers towards new-build homes.

“Being in lockdown for several months has given people more time to research their options and it seems many have concluded that buying new is the right choice for them.

“New-builds are on average 60 per cent more energy efficient and can save homeowners thousands, with reduced bills and less maintenance work required.

"Many of the design features of new homes, such as modern open-plan layouts and flexible space for home working, have also become more in demand since the lockdown.

“Another benefit of buying a new-build home is that the moving process can be significantly quicker.

"While many get caught up in chains, buying a new build means that you can move faster.”
