Go play squash for just 50p

FANCY A game of squash?

Then you’re in luck, as children and young people in Gainsborough can take part in squash sessions for 50p - and adults can have a go too.

Lindum Squash Club are providing a heavily subsidised six week course for just £3 through Sportivate - a national programme encouraging young people aged 14 – 25 years to take part in sport.

The six sessions will take place at West Lindsey Leisure Centre on Friday evenings at 6.30pm.

Coach from Lindum Squash Club Nigel Jubbs said: “Lots of young people think sport isn’t for them, but I would like them to have the chance to discover a new sport, and I hope that squash is something they will really enjoy.”

He added: “This programme is about introducing young people to a sport they have perhaps never even considered playing before.”

Beginners are encouraged to attend the sessions, and despite the programme being specifically aimed at 14 – 25 year olds, Nigel and Iain have confirmed that they will be offering similar courses for older adults.

Children and Young People Officer at Lincolnshire Sports Partnership Lucy Blakey said: “Sportivate not only provides a great opportunity to encourage young people to get involved in sport; it provides a huge financial incentive for sports clubs, schools, leisure facilities and others, to deliver more sport across Lincolnshire.”

She added: “These sessions across Lincoln are a great opportunity to promote a sport that young people may have not had chance to take part in before.”
