Get a ‘move’ on for fundraiser

Worksop has been chosen to host the first ever ‘Move’ event at Clumber Park - designed to celebrate human movement in all its forms and raise much-needed money for Arthritis Research UK.

The event is open to individuals and families of all ages, whether they suffer from arthritis or not.

Over 6,500 people in Worksop suffer from arthritis - and this fun day is all about helping them.

Director of Fundraising and Communications at Arthritis Research UK Louise Holland said: “With arthritis affecting around one in six people in the UK, we believe the time is right for an event series that promotes the importance of movement in alleviating the symptoms of arthritis, as well as raising money to fund further research into the disease.”

She added: “We look forward to delivering this year’s event in Worksop as a springboard to going national in 2013.”

Visitors to the fundraising day can enjoy three main activities, including ‘move on wheels’ with everything from bicycles to go-carts, ‘move to music’ with dancing and ‘move your shoes’ where residents are invited to stroll along in your own imaginative style.

There will also be food, entertainment and a variety of taster sessions and demonstrations on offer, including yoga and Zumba dancing.

Move will be taking place in Clumber Park, Worksop on Sunday 1st July.

The entry fee is £10 for adults, and £5 for children eight - 17 years-old and those aged over 60.

Entry for children under eight-years-old is free.
