THIS week’s Archive Corner picture has been sent in by former Worksop man Ray Pearce.

Mr Pearce, 75, now lives in Nottingham but grew up and went to school in Worksop.

He was a pupil at the Central Secondary School on Memorial Avenue and this photo shows one of the school football teams in 1950.

Mr Pearce is pictured, aged 14, on the left of the back row, standing next to the teacher.

He said: “This was the house football team. All these guys were in my class in 1950.”

Before going to Central Secondary, Mr Pearce had been a pupil at Manton Infants and Newcastle Street schools.

He grew up in Manton and went on to work at Manton pit, before moving away when he got married.

Can you help to identify any of the other boys and the teacher seen here with Mr Pearce?

If so please get in touch.

Perhaps you knew Mr Pearce or you were also a pupil at Central Secondary School.

Do you have any memories of the school or old photos you would like to share?

We would love to see them, so why not send them to us or bring them into our Ryton Street offices with some information so we can feature them in Archive Corner.

Please include a phone number.
