The team at the artisan bakery, near Worksop, decided to bake up the treats to boost local NHS staff working on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic.

After joining the ‘clap for carers’ last night, they headed back indoors to complete their special task of baking croissants and pain au chocolat for NHS staff, delivered this morning.

Manager Mark Garry said: “Last week we delivered to King’s Mill Hospital as it is quite close to us here at Welbeck and we also have a member of staff whose partner is working in the Intensive Care Unit there.

“In all honesty, we didn’t do it for any other reason than we thought it was a nice thing to do for our frontline NHS staff, who are doing an amazing job.”
