Three of Bassetlaw’s play parks set to reopen on Saturday

This weekend Retford’s Kings Park Worksop’s The Canch and Langold Park will be open for play.

However the council is urging parents to take ‘personal responsibility’ by avoiding crowded play equipment - with only one accompanying their children at a time.

Parents are also being asked to ensure they and their children remain two metres away from others and they do not eat or drink in play areas and dispose of rubbish in bins.

Thirty-six other play areas across the district will reopen on Monday - pending cleaning and safety measures in-line with Government guidance.

Each play area will be given a deep clean with new signage installed prior to opening and they will be re-sprayed once a week on inspection.

Councillor Julie Leigh, member for neighbourhoods, said: “We are opening our play areas in line with the governments Covid 19 secure guidelines and will be ensuring each facility has a deep clean prior to re-opening.

“One of the most important steps we have in tackling this virus is personal responsibility and in order to play safe please follow our simple rules - including social distancing and waiting to use play equipment.

“Please also wash hands before and after visiting our play areas.”

The council is asking that parents ensure they and their children catch any sneezes or coughs in a tissue or sleeve and place used tissues in the bin.

Parents and carers should make sure their children sanitise or wash their hands before and after using the play area.

A spokesman added: “For the safety of others do not use or visit any play areas if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath and a lack of taste or smell.”
