Nottingham Theatre Royal: Shock! Runs until Saturday 1st September. Performance 7.30pm. The latest intalment from Colin McIntyre’s Thriller Season. When guests gather for Maggie’s birthday the celebrations take a sinister turn - culminating in the death of guests and a ‘Shock’ twist. Tickets priced £9.50-£19.50.

Nottingham Royal Concert Hall: Starlight Express. Runs until Sunday 2nd September. Light years ahead of the rest, this futuristic tale about love and hope in the face of adversity promises to take you on the ride of a lifetime - with two hours of speed, spectacle, energy and turbo charged excitement, combined with an electrifying sound track, dazzling sets and costumes, some of Andrew Lloyd Webbers most memorable musical hits and extraordinary nonstop roller-choreography by TV judge Arlene Phillips. Sheffield City Hall: Last Laugh Comedy Club. Runs until Saturday 1st September. Performance time: 8.15pm. Featuring comedians Toby Foster, Jamie Sutherland, Dave Longley, Martin Beaumont. Martin Beaumont is a very funny and versatile comedian with a fast wit. He is able to entertain any audience from comedy clubs to the forces, as well leading lights in the new wave of comics on board cruise ships! Sheffield City Hall: Big Band Ballroom Dance. Doors open 6.30pm for 7pm start. Keith Roe presents Big Band Ballroom Dance to celebrate the 80th birthday of Sheffield City Hall. Fellowship Big Band which consistently receives great acclaim at the Fellowship Concerts in the Oval Hall with vocalists Gary St. John and Richard Carlin. Whilst many will enjoy listening to the band and some may reminisce about life in the 40’s and 50’s, the main purpose of the evening is to ballroom dance to a big band. There will be the opportunity to dance the Modern Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep as well as Old Time dances like the Gay Gordons and of course the Barn Dance. There will be the chance to enjoy favourite sequence dances during the interval sessions. Tickets £11.

Mansfield Palace Theatre: Exercise Through Dance. Runs until Monday 22nd October. Session time 10am. Join expert Dance Practitioner and Teacher Leanne Martine on an eight week course for a taste of Exercise Through Dance. With different styles from salsa to modern, jazz and even a bit of line dancing too. This is fun and fitness for the over fifties with simple dance movement to various rhythms. £25 for the full course - only 25 places available.

Doncaster Civic Theatre: Calendar Girls. Tuesday 4th-Saturday 8th September. Calendar Girls. Performance 7.30pm, Saturday matinee 2.15pm. A group of extraordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire WI, spark a global phenomenon by persuading one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference. As interest snowballs, the Calendar Girls find themselves revealing more than they’d ever planned! Ice Productions present this hilarious and moving play based on this amazing true story. Friday 7th September - Retford Majestic Theatre: Unforgettable 50s and 60s Hits. Performance 7.30pm.
