Craig is communitychampion

A GREEN-fingered Worksop teenager has earned himself an award for his volunteer work.

Community minded Craig Anderson, 19, of Northwood, Prospect, was proudly presented with the Community Champion 2011 award at A1 Housing’s recent AGM.

Craig has taken it upon himself to dig in and maintain his estate as a nice place to live.

A member of the local Tenants and Residents Association, he helps organise events like litter picking and keeping the estate clean and tidy.

He is also keen to take up training opportunities and has recently become a trained first aider.

A community garden which Craig helped create was recognised this year by winning the Community Garden award.

“I just like gardening and keeping the place tidy for other people,” said Craig, who is looking for gardening work.

“I like to help the elderly residents keep their gardens tidy too. It keeps me busy.”

A1 customer services manager Sam Roberts said: “Young people have high expectations and as anyone with teenage children will know, they are notoriously difficult to motivate.”

“So when a young person like Craig gives up their time to support their community it really stands out.”

Other awards on the night were Anti-social Behaviour Champion, Good Neighbour, Tenants Champion and the Managing Director’s award for A1 employees.
