Best known for playing Ashley Peacock on ‘Corrie’, and also appearing on Dancing on Ice, Steven is now swapping Weatherfield for the Majestic Theatre as he plays the Scarecrow in the show.
Steven will also be just one part of an all-star cast to be announced over the coming weeks.
Following a hugely successful summer season run through 2013 in Blackpool and a 2014 nationwide tour, Trio Entertainment’s production of The Wizard of Oz will be at The Majestic Theatre in for only one performance on April 9.
Join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion on their adventure to see the Wizard of Oz for their dreams to be fulfilled.
Joining Steven in the cast will be local children from The Carr Hill Musical Theatre School as Munchkins.
It was in 1996 that Steven made his debut in Coronation Street and he remained there for the next 15 years.
Out of all the memorable storylines he was given, the one Steven picks as his favourite is one of the first he did.
He said: “Ashley was a comedy character when I first joined and I had never played a comedy role before,.
“When Fred told Ashley he was his dad that was probably my favourite storyline as I could show another side to myself, the serious side.
He is now really looking forward to going back to playing a fun and comedy character this Easter in The Wizard of Oz.
Kevin Brown, producer from Trio Entertainment, added: “The Wizard of Oz promises magic, music and laughter by the bucket load.
“We’ve got a fantastic family pantomime with a first-rate cast.
“This will be the second year we have produced the Easter pantomime at The Majestic theatre and we are thrilled to be returning after the huge success of last year’s Peter Pan.
“We have got an all star cast joining Steven which will be announced over the coming weeks.”
