Cole Porter’s Anything Goes coming to Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre

Cole Porter’s Anything Goes is coming to the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, running from Friday 28th November until Saturday 17th January 2015, before heading off on a major tour of the UK and Ireland for the rest of 2015.

A chance meeting with an English beauty sends Wall Street hot-shot, Billy Crocker, on a madcap voyage of love, as he stows away on luxury S.S. American, a transatlantic liner with a cargo of passengers who are not quite what they seem.

Featuring Cole Porter’s sensational score including I Get A Kick Out Of You, You’re The Top and It’s De-Lovely and packed full of show-stopping dance numbers, tap-dancing sailors and sassy heroines,

Anything Goes promises to be a thrilling Christmas treat.

Leading the company are West End stars Debbie Kurup and Matt Rawle. Debbie, who previously appeared at the Crucible in Guys and Dolls and was recently nominated for an Olivier Award for her stunning portrayal of Nicki Marron in The Bodyguard at The Adelphi Theatre, plays evangelist turned nightclub singer Reno Sweeney.

Fellow Olivier Award-nominee, Matt Rawle (Assassins, Crucible Theatre, Evita, Adelphi Theatre) plays love-struck Billy Crocker. Also returning to Sheffield are, Hugh Sachs (The Cherry Orchard, The Country Wife), well-known for his role as Gavin in ITV’s Benidorm, playing Moonface Martin,

Simon Rouse (The Full Monty - tour and West End, ITV’s The Bill and Broadchurch) as Elisha Whitney and Jane Wymark (ITV’s Midsomer Murders) as Evangeline Harcourt.

Jane was last seen at Sheffield Theatres in Racing Demon part of the David Hare Season.

In their debut roles for Sheffield Theatres, Zoë Rainey (Hairspray, Jekyll and Hyde) plays Hope Harcourt and Stephen Matthews (The Lion King, The Producers) plays Lord Evelyn Oakley.

Sheffield Theatres is creating the show in association with Stage Entertainment, theproducers behind hits including Singin’ in the Rain, Hairspray and Strictly Come Dancing.

Cole Porter’s uplifting masterpiece of song, dance and romance, Anything Goes will take to the Crucible stage from Friday 28 November – Saturday 17 January 2015 before embarking on a 33 week tour of the UK and Ireland (during which Hugh Sachs and Jane Wymark will be replaced by Sean Williamson (EastEnders) and Kate Anthony (Coronation Street) respectively.)
