Beer, balloons and BBQ at birthday bash

The special event in Grayingham, near Gainsborough, saw local jazz quartet Deep South play along as punters sampled beers from local breweries, as well as some of Uncle Henry’s own award-winning bangers in a highly competitive sausage-eating competition.

“It went really well,” said Uncle Henry’s events manager Fran Sykes.

“I’d say it was busier than ever and we had some really nice weather which is always quite important at things like this.”

“There were so many people around that we had to find some extra chairs. We had balloons, bangers, bunting and a big birthday party atmosphere.”

The farm shop was joined by breweries from across the county who showcased their ales – including Grafters from Willingham by Stow and Poachers Brewery from Hykeham.

There was also a variety of soft drinks on offer for the kids to become connoisseurs, as well as the first outing of Uncle Henry’s special cheese and pineapple sausage.

The sausage was designed with the kids party classic of cheese and pineapple on a stick in mind and certainly piqued visitors’ curiosity.

“It’s very important for us to showcase local breweries,” said Fran.

“The great thing about local breweries is that they bring a real sense of fun with their funny names for everything and I think people really enjoy that.”

She added: “Like us, they’re local, independent, and are offering people something great on their doorstep – and I think people respond really well to that.”
