the CHRISTMAS Fat Stock Show was held on Wednesday, when mild and sunny weather prevailed.

The show of stock, on the whole, was not so large as last year but the greatest satisfaction was expressed at the quality offered. The special feature of the show this year was the splendid quality of the sheep including a pen of five belonging to Mr C. Blakeborough, which won first prize at Smithfield last week.

There were also contributions from well-known sheep breeders such as the Duke of Portland and the Duchess of Newcastle.
