Hundreds of fly-tipping sites cleared up in Bassetlaw

More than 330 incidents of fly-tipping have been cleared up in Bassetlaw – in just two months.

Bassetlaw Council has revealed the figures, which is equal to its team clearing up eight fly-tipping incidents a day in a bid to encourage people to dispose of their waste in a legal way rather than dumping it illegally.

The local authority encourages people to take their waste to a nearby tip, book a bulky waste collection through the council or pay privately to have it taken away.

If people are to arrange for it to be taken away privately, they are encouraged to see the person’s Waste Carrier Licence because if the waste is fly-tipped then it could be traced back to them and they may be fined or face prosecution.
