How to take part in fun Gateford Easter trail this weekend

Using a map, youngsters can navigate their way around the area and have fun finding numbered eggs, collecting letters and solving puzzles.

They can also fill out an entry form for the chance to win a prize. Dozens of little ones have enjoyed taking part in the trail so far.

Local mum Louise Richmond helped set up the trail off the back of a group she created during lockdown.

Gateford Window Walk and Stone Spotting originally served as a way for families to pass the time after schools closed due to the pandemic, but has since steadily grown into a ‘fantastic community’ of almost 1,000 people.

Louise said: “Initially we had a theme each week for pictures to display in windows, so people could spot them on their walk and then someone suggested painting stones.

"Back in August a member of the group organised a Scarecrow trail.

"From then me and the other admin, Laura, have organised three further events- a Halloween trail, Christmas trail and now Easter trail.”

This time the group has approached local businesses for donations to Easter trail prize pot and said they have been ‘overwhelmed by their generosity’ after receiving Easter eggs, selection boxes and cuddly toys.
