Claims that staff members were sent home from the town’s distribution centre surfaced today (Monday, March 2) along with coronavirus fears after the worker returned from a holiday in Tenerife.

But Wilko reassured residents that the distribution centre continues to operate as normal and that the worker had chosen to self-isolate following ‘routine advice’ from doctors.

A spokesperson added: “This is not a medically confirmed case and we are encouraged to know that they are not exhibiting any symptoms. We look forward to welcoming them back to work in due course.

“We take the health and wellbeing of our team members very seriously and are continuing to monitor the situation closely to ensure we’re taking the appropriate steps in line with the latest UK Government advice.”
