The six challenges, which will take place between March and August, will see BPL fitness members compete against each other, as well as trying to hit a combined team target.
Bassetlaw contracts manager for BPL Glyn Davies said they wanted to bring the competitive spirit 2012 creates to the district.
“The challenges will be split into individual goals for fitness members to achieve and a team total to encourage as many people to take part as possible,” he said.
“The first challenge will begin in March with the individual goal being to run 2,012 metres in the fastest possible time on a treadmill, and the team target being to run the accumulative distance between London and Beijing which is 8,116 kilometres.”
“Each month will see a different style of challenge.”
“We have tried to include as many different tasks as possible such as running, cycling, rowing and swimming so that people can try something they may not have done before.”
Participants will be handed a record card to log their progress while taking part in each challenge.
“The event isn’t about winning; it is about setting a goal and achieving it,” added Mr Davies.
“Taking part and having fun is what the main aim is and we know that our members will enjoy the challenge.”

Individual Challenge - to run 2,012 metres on a treadmill in fastest possible time
Team Challenge - to run the distance between London and Beijing (8,116kms)
Individual Challenge - to swim 2,012 metres as part of Big Splash
Team Challenge - to swim the length of the Thames (215 miles)
Individual Challenge - to row 2,012 metres
Team Challenge - to row the distance of the English Channel
Individual Challenge - to cycle 2,012 metres
Team Challenge - cycle the distance between London and Rio De Janeiro (5,751kms)
Individual Challenge - Mini Triathlon
Team Challenge - to lift the weight of the Olympic Stadium roof (2.5 million Kgs)
