The organisation is working with the retailer – who has pledged to distribute £1,000 worth of food around Worksop and Retford each week – along with Bassetlaw Community Volunteer Service (BCVS) and Bassetlaw District Council.

Sally Gillborn, chief executive of North Notts BID, said: “When the food banks in Retford and Worksop closed during the pandemic, we knew we had to find a way to help the Morrisons team to deliver its generous donations to those families and elderly people in need.”

“BCVS is always incredibly responsive and willing to be on hand whenever help is required, so we knew the team would ensure that the resources provided were distributed throughout the community.”

The donations are part of a wider Morrisons initiative to provide each store across the UK with stock to donate to local community groups and food banks.

Victoria Brooks, community champion for Morrisons’ Worksop and Retford stores, said: “We're doing all we can to help feed the nation during this crisis. I'd like to thank our customers for their generous donations which will be added to our pallet of groceries each week. We've also added hundreds of Easter Eggs this week, which I hope will bring some joy to the families with Notts BID and BCVS support.”

Last week, it was revealed that the BID had also been working with Wilko staff to deliver Easter eggs to schools.
