Five more Covid-19 patients die in Mansfield

Mansfield’s coronavirus death toll has risen again as five more patients have died from Covid-19 within the hospitals, latest figures have shown.

Most recent data released this afternoon (December 23) from NHS England revealed that five more patients died from the deadly virus while being cared for by Sherwood Hospitals NHS Trust.

Since the pandemic hit, the trust, which runs Newark Hospital, Mansfield Community Hospital and King's Mill Hospital in Sutton and has recorded a total of 263 virus-related fatalities.

Nationwide, NHS England said a further 416 Covid-19 deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 47,399.

Patients were aged between 32 and 102. All except 15, aged between 37 and 90, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between April 19 and December 22.

Thirty-two other deaths were reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

Their families have all been informed.
