Building firm funds for Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospital Trust rainbow garden appeal

The idea for the memorial gardens came from staff at DTBH who expressed a need for a place to go to reflect and recharge following the challenges they have faced over the last four months, including the death from Covid-19 of two much loved colleagues Kevin Smith and Dr Medhat Atalla.

Cameron McLellan, divisional managing director at Polypipe Residential Systems said: “We are proud to support the trust to show our gratitude for the fantastic work they have done over the last few months.

"We have factories across Doncaster and many of our employees live in the area and use the services of Doncaster Royal Infirmary and this is our way to say thank you for all they are doing in these difficult times.

"Our thoughts are with families who have lost loved ones during this pandemic.”

Emma Shaheen, head of communications and engagement at DBTH, said: “We’re delighted to receive such a generous donation from Polypipe Building Products.

“The money will give our appeal, to create two rainbow gardens at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital, a substantial boost.”

“Throughout this pandemic our local communities have come together to support the trust in many ways from the donation of food and drinks to PPE and toiletries and we have been bowled over with the outpouring of support we have received.

"There’s never been a more important time to provide garden spaces, for colleagues and the local community who have been affected by Covid-19, giving them a place to go to remember, reflect and recharge.”
