Care is Gold Standard

Staff at Grosvenor House Care Home in East Stockwith are celebrating after achieving their second national award for Gold Standard later life care.

The Gold Standard Framework is a three stage quality assurance programme that enables care homes to provide quality care for all residents nearing the end of life.

Grosvenor nurse manager Barbara Bussey said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award again, and particularly happy to have received the commended status which is a tribute to all our staff’s continuous dedication.”

“Our community at Grosvenor is very much a group of people with very different care needs. Our under-lying mantra is helping people to live well regardless of any health issues.”

Professor Keri Thomas, GSF national lead said: “Those homes that have received the GSF Quality Hallmark for the second time have demonstrated continuous improvement in the quality of care the provide.”

She said this lead to greater satisfaction for families, residents and staff.

“The Gold Standard of Care shows that homes like Grosvenor House have proved they are doing this over a sustained period, continually building on what is already a high standard of care,” she said.

More than 200 homes across England and Wales have now been recognised with the award.
