Bassetlaw Reacher team deliver supplies to hospital in need

The plea was made after patients on the respiratory ward had been left without supplies having not being able to see family and friends as a result of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The Bassetlaw Reacher team quickly rallied up support from the community and organised several locations for people to drop off items to them so they could collect and deliver them to the hospital safely. All the items were then presented to the hospital on Thursday, November 12.

Reacher Constable Ebony Robinson, said: "We understand what a tough year this has been and how important it is, now more than ever, to be kind to one another and lend a helping hand to those who need us most.

"That's what Reacher is about, being there for the community when they need us, just as much as fighting crime.

"The nurses and our NHS colleagues are doing such a fantastic job, going above and beyond the ask of them every day, putting their lives at risk so we also want to support them wherever we can”.

"We've been overwhelmed by the support from our residents and truly thank them for getting involved. We really hope it makes a difference to those patients in need."

The hospital are going to distribute the donations across all wards to provide for any patient who needs them.

Michelle Cookson, C1 Ward Manager, said: “Thank you so much to West Bassetlaw Police Force for supporting our appeal asking for toiletries to give to our patients.

"Due to current visiting restrictions patients are not seeing their families at this moment in time and are in need of a few essential items.

"The donations, including shampoo, soap and deodorant, will mean so much to our patients and will also bring peace of mind to their families knowing their loved ones have the basic essentials.

"Thank you to our local communities who have supported us in so many ways over the past eight months, your support means so much to our colleagues during these challenging times.”
