Earlier in the year, the government announced funding to help deliver its plans to boost greener, active transport.

The Department for Transport has allocated £2.18 million of this funding towards the proposals included in Nottinghamshire County Council’s Active Travel Fund Tranche bid.

This funding is part of the Government’s Covid plans to make walking and cycling safe during the pandemic.

Coun John Cottee, chairman of the communities and place committee at the council said: “Embedding walking and cycling into people’s daily lives for leisure or work will help achieve a number of our council objectives including health, the environment, and reducing journey time delay.

“We are pleased to receive the funding, but it does not cover all the schemes we had hoped to deliver as part of this work.”

One of the roads being put forward to be part of the new plans is the Randall Way in Retford.

Residents are now being invited to say what they would like to see included in the scheme.

The schemes being consulted on all tie-in to current programmes the council already delivers to help people access local jobs, training, shops and services through the provision of new crossings, cycleway and footway improvements, and dropped kerbs.

To participate in the online consultation please visit the website at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/active-travel-fund.

The consultation will run until March 7.
