Four more patients die of Covid-19 in Mansfield

With the latest figures, the country has now recorded a total of 75,767 deaths, NHS England said on Sunday.

Locally, a further four people have succumbed to the deadly virus within Sherwood Hospitals Trust, bringing the total to 486.

The trust runs Newark Hospital, Mansfield Community Hospital and King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton.

Patients were aged between 28 and 100. All except nine, aged between 42 and 79, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between April 19 2020 and February 6, with the majority being on or after February 3.

There were 29 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.

The data represents the deaths of hospital patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the previous 28 days and whose deaths were recorded in the latest reporting period.

Since April 28 2020, NHS England and NHS Improvement also started to report the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result but it is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death in the death certification process.

Meanwhile, as of 9am on Sunday, the Government said that there had been a further 15,845 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 3,945,680.

Government data up to February 6 also shows of the 12,525,735 jabs given in the UK so far, 12,014,288 were first doses – a rise of 549,078 on the previous day’s figures.

Some 511,447 were second doses, an increase of 1,390 on figures released the previous day.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said in a tweet: “Yesterday over 549,000 people got their first vaccine dose, which now means over 12 million people across the UK have been vaccinated.”

Vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi said he is confident the country could meet their mid-February target of the top four cohorts.

He added: “I’m also confident because I have enough line of sight of deliveries that are coming through, that we will also meet the one to nine cohorts by May.”
