Worksop pupils join world-famous singing group for masterclass

More than 200 children from primary schools in Worksop and beyond came together for a musical workshop delivered by an internationally-acclaimed vocal group.

‘VOCE8’ is currently taking a break from its European tour to hold workshops in schools across the country.

The acapella vocal group visited Worksop College on Tuesday, January 21, to deliver the schools workshop for the sixth year running.

Taking place from 10am to 5pm, the children, aged between seven and 11 were divided into groups and put through their paces, enjoying a number of choral exercises and learning several songs.

The day concluded with a concert in the school’s chapel, St Cuthbert’s.

Dr Price, headmaster, said: “Musical education is so important.

“Figures from the BPI (March 2019) suggests that in state schools, there’s been a 21% decrease in music in provision over the last five years.

“Partnerships with our local schools and sharing of resources and experiences is an important part of what we do and it benefits us all.”
