Success at Retford Oaks Academy in Worksop despite 'very challenging year' as A Level results day pass rate is nearly 100 per cent

For many year 13 students from Retford Oaks, A Level results day was the first time at the academy since the doors closed in March and, despite the unusual circumstances, celebrations were in the offing as students celebrated a 99.1 per cent pass rate.

Over a fifth of the grades awarded to students at Retford Oaks Academy were A*– A, and over half were graded at A*– B, representing an improvement from 2019.

This year’s top performer, Rhiannon Emery, achieved a hugely impressive set of results with A*s in Spanish and business and an A in maths.

Another top achiever was Olivia Bateman who achieved an A* in business, an A in biology and an A in chemistry.

Olivia will be taking up her place at the University of Lincoln to study law.

Joseph Newton’s dedication to his studies also paid off, with an A in English literature, a B in drama, a C in history and an impressive A* in his Extended Qualification Project.

Mr Christopher West, principal at Retford Oaks Academy, said: “We are delighted with this year’s results which show another significant year on year improvement – outcomes which clearly demonstrate the dedication of our students over the course of their studies, as well as the commitment of our teaching staff.

"After what has been a very challenging year, we are incredibly proud of the students leaving today – from all the staff at Retford Oaks, we wish you every success and happiness for the future.”
