Celebrating community spirit at Balmoral Community Centre

Balmoral Community Centre is gearing up for a season of feel good community fun, thanks to a £1,000 Councillor Community Grant.
The Balmoral Tenants and Residents Association has lined up three fabulous events to brighten the early part of the year for tenants and residents living around the Valley Road area of Worksop.
Festivities begin with a hearty Pie and Peas Lunch on Monday 16 February, followed by an Easter Tea on Monday 30 March, and rounding off with a delicious Savoury Nibbles and Gateau Afternoon on Monday 27 April. Each event will run from 1pm to 3pm, offering residents a relaxing chance to connect, chat, and enjoy great company.
The funding, provided by Ward Members for Worksop North, Cllr Neil Sanders, Cllr Laura Sanders and Cllr Maria Charlesworth will be used to provide food and refreshments, with around 50 members expected to attend each event.
The Committee and members of Balmoral Tenants and Residents Association said: “We’re thrilled to receive this generous support from our local Councillors. These events will be a fantastic way to bring people together, reduce isolation, and promote wellbeing in our community. We’re looking forward to welcoming residents and seeing them enjoy themselves at Balmoral Community Centre.”
The Balmoral Tenants and Residents Association meet every Monday from 12noon until 3pm. Each month, the group hosts different activities to encourage tenants to get involved, make new friends, and strengthen community ties.
Cllr Laura Sanders, spoke on behalf of the Councillors who contributed to the grant and said: “We’re proud to support initiatives like this through the Councillor Community Grant scheme. These events at Balmoral Community Centre make a real difference by helping to tackle isolation and improve wellbeing for local residents. It’s fantastic to see the community coming together and enjoying these opportunities.”
Across Bassetlaw, there are three Tenant and Resident Associations located in Harworth, Mattersey Thorpe, and Balmoral. These community groups work closely with the Council to address issues raised by tenants and provide opportunities for social engagement.
