Readers of Great British Food magazine nominated Welbeck Farm Shop, Welbeck Bakehouse and The School of Artisan Food for the Great British Food Awards, which celebrate the nation’s finest produce.

All three reached the top five in their respective categories.

They will now go to an online public vote to decide the overall winner.

While Welbeck Farm Shop is up for best farm shop, Welbeck Bakehouse is in the running for the best baker title and The School of Artisan Food for best school.

Oliver Stubbins, general manager of Welbeck Farm Shop, said: “We’re delighted to have reached the finals.

“Over the last few months, the farm shop has been working around the clock to continue providing our usual levels of service and quality during lockdown.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard during this time and it’s a real boost to hear that people have nominated us for the awards.”

Natasha Lovell-Smith, editor of Great British Food magazine and chair of the judging panel, said: “This year we launched a host of new retail-focused categories.

“These include best bakery, best butcher, best fishmonger, best cheesemonger and best food market.

“In previous years the shortlist has been compiled in-house for each category, but this year we left it up to shoppers to nominate their favourite businesses and put together the shortlist.

“I’m absolutely delighted with the results – our readers have come up with an absolutely cracking selection of small local businesses across the length and breadth of Britain.”

·Voting is online via www.greatbritishfoodawards.com/vote and closes on 4 September 2020.
