To support and showcase apprenticeships, there are an exciting range of awards up for grabs to highlight the outstanding work within the Sheffield City Region.Whilst the limelight is on our apprentices, the awards will also be recognising the firms who employ them and those who help develop their skills.

The 2021 awards are being supported by headline sponsor Amazon which is creating more than 1,000 new full-time apprenticeships across the UK in 2021.

Associate sponsors are Gradconsult and NOCN Group, while category sponsors are Doncaster College, Barnsley College, Apprentice Ambassador Network and Sheffield Hallam University.

Winners will be crowned at the awards ceremony held at The Hilton Garden Inn at Doncaster Racecourse in September.

This year, there are two new awards, which highlight changes influenced by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Organisers want to highlight the apprentices that have gone above and beyond what was perhaps expected of them with the introduction of a new award category, the Covid Hero.

This award recognises apprentices who have adapted to business during the global pandemic, to assist their company through the crisis.

Who do you know that has shown incredible spirit in adapting and overcoming challenges?

The second category is for The Kickstart Scheme/Apprenticeship.

Organisers would like to hear about your journey to date and also if you were successful on completion of the six months of securing an apprenticeship or employment.

National Apprenticeship Week runs until February 14.

Gillian Keegan MP, minister for apprenticeships and skills, said: “It’s been a tough year for everyone, but we want the theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2021 to be a springboard to look ahead to how apprenticeships can futureproof workforces and boost careers.”
