Housebuilder seeks apprentices for Nottinghamshire sites

A leading Nottinghamshire housebuilder is recruiting for a clutch of new apprentices to give young people a head start in the construction industry.

Barratt Homes North Midlands, which is based in Nottingham, is aiming to boost local employment prospects by creating three new roles.

Managing director Chris Southgate said: “The construction industry is continuing to grow and this is an exciting time for anyone with an interest in housebuilding to join a market leading company.

“As one of the country’s top developers we are absolutely committed to developing raw talent and I believe that we have a duty to provide these kinds of apprenticeship opportunities.”

The three openings are for people specialising in bricklaying, or carpentry and joinery, to start in September, 2017.

Apprentices will be working across developments in East Leake, Cotgrave and Mansfield, learning new skills from experienced tradespeople for four days a week.

They will also spend one day a week at college undertaking a qualification in their chosen field.

All programmes are structured to maximise achievement structured and tailored to individual needs.

Apprentices will receive encouragement, support and guidance to help them develop with the skills and qualifications necessary for a successful career.

Jack Broughton, 22, who is currently doing a joinery apprenticeship, said: “Barratt Homes reward hard work, allowing employees chance to move up within the company which is very promising for someone like me.”
