Photos show Worksop town centre on first day of tough new coronavirus rules

The highest level of coronavirus restrictions came into force in Worksop and the rest of Nottinghamshire this morning.

The county has now been placed in the tier 3 very high level, which means bars and pubs must close unless they serve a substantial meal, and households are banned from mixing indoors or in private gardens and beer gardens.

The rules, which came into force at one minute past midnight, are also among some of the strictest in the country after local leaders decided that additional business such as betting shops, car boots and auction houses must close, as well as tattoo parlours, tanning and nail salons, and piercing services.

Tier 3 restrictions will be in force in Nottinghamshire for the next 28 days.

Our photographer Chris Etchells has been out and about in town today capturing these images.
