An opening date for the new store has yet to be revealed.

Hamleys owner Reliance Brands earlier this year announced plans to refurbish its famous London store on Regent Store and open new stores across the UK, describing the explansion as a ‘sign of confidence in the brand and strategy’.

The news is a welcome boost for the retail sector in Sheffield, which has struggled in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hamleys was founded in 1760, making it the world’s oldest toy retailer, and has more than 160 stores across 18 countries.
