Barlborough housebuilder wins prestigious international RoSPA award for excellence in health and safety

Avant Homes, which has headquarters in Barlborough, received this year’s president’s award from safety charity Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) at its internationally renowned health and safety awards.

The honour is recognition that the company had achieved ten consecutive gold medal awards for excellence in health and safety.

Group health and safety director Steve Foley said: “It is a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work and dedication to exemplary health and safety practices by the entire Avant Homes team.

He added: “This award demonstrates not only our commitment to these standards, but our achievement in meeting them over a sustained period of time, which is something we are all incredibly proud of.”

The RoSPA awards scheme is one of the most prestigious in the world, with thousands of entries from 42 countries around the globe each year.

The awards assess achievements and best practices in health and safety management systems including workforce involvement and leadership in 20 professional sectors.

RoSPA chief executive Errol Taylor said: “Every year we are delighted to see some really amazing work being delivered by our health and safety colleagues around the world, and 2020 has been no exception.

"In such a challenging year for our profession, it’s marvellous to be able to celebrate everything our industry has achieved in keeping our employees free from harm, so that they can return to their loved ones safe and well at the end of every working day.”
