Young organist in Gainsborough

YOUNG organist Mark Thompson makes his first trip to Gainsborough at the end of the month.

Gainsborough Organ Society welcomes the bright young star to the Weston Rooms, Hickman Street, on Thursday 31st May at 7.30pm.

Mark has been interested in music from a young age and has built many connections within the industry.

At seven he took up keyboard lessons, going on to play cornet in a brass band until he was 13. Later he studied music at Durham University.

After that Mark worked for a music company and was also appointed as rehearsal accompanist with a local operatic society. He was also named Young Theatre Organist of the Year.

Currently working as musical director at Newcastle Theatre Royal, Mark has played in his own soul band for the last two years.

“Mark has rave reviews wherever he goes and no doubt will have another from us,” said Peter Naulls from the society.
