Worksop’s very own Kian Butler is preparing to make waves on the international music scene as he represents his hometown and Nottinghamshire in San Marino’s prestigious Una Voce per competition. With auditions set for 9th January 2025, Kian will take to the stage with his original song If You Dare, a heartfelt anthem inspired by his personal journey. The Worksop community is already buzzing with excitement, rallying behind Kian as he sets his sights on global success.

Kian’s career has been shaped by an impressive array of experiences. From performing at Worksop Pride 2023 and Worksop’s Got Talent 2017 to starring in Autism’s Got Talent, Kian has become a familiar face on local and national stages. His star continued to rise when he served as the online social media host for the UK delegation at Junior Eurovision in both 2022 and 2023, using his platform to engage with fans across the UK and Europe and celebrate the country’s return to the competition.

“Being the online social media host for Junior Eurovision was incredible,” Kian shared. “It allowed me to connect with fans, share behind-the-scenes moments, and celebrate the amazing talent that Junior Eurovision brings together. Being part of something so iconic made me realise I was ready to take my own music to the next level.”

The song Kian will perform, If You Dare, was co-written with producer Charley Beck of Hyde Sounds. It’s an uplifting track inspired by Kian’s experiences with autism, tackling themes of resilience and overcoming obstacles. “This song is my story, but it’s also for anyone who has ever felt like they couldn’t achieve their dreams,” Kian explained. “It’s about daring to believe in yourself, no matter what challenges you face. Charley was brilliant in helping me craft this, and I’m so proud of what we’ve created.”

Kian’s leap of faith into Una Voce per was sparked by his trip to Sweden for the Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year. “Being there in the crowd, seeing the performances, and feeling the energy—it was electric,” Kian said. “It made me realise this was the path I wanted to take. That experience gave me the push to go for it.”

The Worksop community is right behind him, with local pride at an all-time high. Kian is a proud member of the Dukeries Theatre Group, who have been unwavering in their support. “The Dukeries Theatre Group has been like a second family to me,” Kian said. “Their encouragement, along with the backing of everyone in Worksop, has been absolutely amazing. I feel so lucky to have them cheering me on.”

With less than a month to go before the big day, excitement is building. Fans across Nottinghamshire are eagerly pre-saving If You Dare, which is set to be released on 23rd February 2025. Social media is ablaze with hashtags like #KianInSanMarino and #IfYouDare, as messages of support pour in from near and far.

We’ll all be cheering him on, whether we’re in San Marino or at home in Worksop.”

Kian, ever humble, is focused on giving his best performance. “This isn’t just about me,” he said. “It’s about showing that talent from a small town like Worksop can compete on the world stage. I want to make everyone who’s supported me proud.”

As Worksop eagerly awaits the audition day, there’s no doubt that Kian Butler is already putting his town firmly on the map. Whether it’s his moving song, his inspiring journey, or his undeniable talent, one thing is certain—Kian is poised to make 2025 a year to remember.
