Worksop: Thoresby Colliery Band to play concert at The Crossing this month

Despite the impending closure of Thoresby Colliery, the brass band which proudly wears it name lives on and will continue to do so, just like the famous Grimethorpe Colliery and Carlton Main Frickley Colliery bands do.

The band are the nearest championship section band to Worksop, rehearsing in Hardwick Village.

Guest conductor on the night is Simon Willis, well known as a multi-award winning euphonium player before becoming a conductor, currently with Derby Concert Band.

He also appeared as a percussionist in the film Brassed Off many years ago.

The concert is on Saturday, 13th June at 7.30pm.
