This magical musical features a strong love story, with memorable well-loved songs and the underlying themes of honour and patriotism.

Featuring Zoe Nelson as Maria, in her first leading role, the show also welcomes the return to the Worksop stage of Ashley Booker, who plays Captain von Trapp.

The Sound of Music would not be the same without the von Trapp children and the Society has enrolled 12 of the best local youngsters to play the six Von Trapp offspring in two teams, alternating between performances.

“With a strong support cast and beautiful choral singing, this is a show not to be missed,” said a society spokesman.

“If The Sound of Music’ is one of your Favourite Things you don’t have to Climb Ev’ry Mountain’ to see it, just come along to the Acorn Theatre.”

The Sound of Music is at the Acorn Theatre in Worksop from next Tuesday Saturday (13th to 17th May) at 7pm each night, plus a Saturday matinee at 2pm.

Tickets priced £8 (Tuesday) £10 (all other shows, £8.50 concessions available Wednesday to Friday and Saturday matinee) are available from the box office on 01909 501817.
