WIN! Tickets to see homegrown singer

A Worksop-born singer acclaimed as one of the global voices of house music will be making a return to his home town next Friday night for a charity concert - and we have a pair of tickets to be won!

Steve Edwards will be headlining Rock 4 A Reason at North Notts Arena on 21st September at 7pm.

The show will be raising funds for the Bassetlaw SAND Sports club for children with disabilities, and the Priory Church heating fund.

Earlier this year Steve appeared at the Wireless Festival in London’s Hyde Park, which was headlined by Jessie J and Rihanna.

Steve, who went to Hartland School, will have his eight-piece band with him at the arena show, and his special guests will be Lizzy Mack and the Pilots.

He said: “I last played Worksop four years ago and it was like a reunion for a lot of my mates who hadn’t seen each other for years.”

“i don’t get back very often but it’s great when I do, I’m looking forward to it.”

Lizzy is a solo artist from Sheffield and the Pilots are an up-and-coming Worksop band.

The ever popular Phoenix roadshow will also be appearing.

North Notts Arena manager Nigel Turner said: “Steve is world-renowned in electronic dance music. This concert is for two fantastic local worthy causes and hopefully we will sell out.”

Steve has had three Billboard Dance number one hits, been Grammy-nominated twice, and won a 2007 World Music Award for the biggest selling dance record.

His many worldwide hits include Watch the Sunrise, Sound of Violence, Listen to the Voice Inside, Helter Skelter and World Hold On.

Steve will also perform songs taken from his forthcoming original album Northern Black with his superb live band the Big Strong Love.

He is in demand for collaborations in house music because of his unique voice and song writing.

This year is set to be one of his busiest, with huge releases with the Shapeshifters (Shake, Shake), Ron Carroll (When Loves Gets in the Way), the Squatters (Back to the Stars), Patric Hagenaar (Get crazy) and his solo track Love Like Water.

Tickets priced £10 are available from North Notts Community Arena, tel:480164 or go online to www.nnca.info.
