WIN! Tickets to local show Me and My Girl

TOE-TAPPING musical comedy Me and My Girl comes to the Gainsborough stage later this month.

And the Standard has teamed up with Gainsborough Operatic Society to offer a pair of tickets for one lucky reader.

Me and My Girl will be at Trinity Arts Centre from Tuesday 24th - Saturday 28th April.

Rehearsals are well under way and the cast are being put through their paces by professional director Greg Snape, musical director Gerry Mooney and choreographer Brent Grantham.

The well-known story follows unrefined cockney Bill Snibson (played by Adam Saunby) who discovers he is the long lost 14th Earl of Hareford - a privilege owing to an ‘amorous indiscretion’ by the late 13th Earl.

But Bill can only inherit the title and its estate if he satisfies the will’s executors Maria, Duchess of Dene (Julie Leaning) and Sir John Tremayne (Tony Graves) that he is a ‘fit and proper person’ to do so.

The Duchess thinks she can make Bill fit and proper, but not his cockney girlfriend Sally (Louise Kirk).

She therefore insists that Bill breaks up the relationship.

Add to the mix that the Duchess’s daughter, Lady Jacqueline (Vicky Toward), is a gold-digger and fancies Bill’s new-found money and that Bill refuses to accept the title unless her can keep Sally. The result? Chaos of the most comical kind.

With a host of hilarious characters, witty one-liners and toe-tapping, uplifting musical numbers such as The Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got His Hat On and Leaning On A Lamp Post, Me and My Girl is a must see show.

Show times are 7.30pm each night and 2pm on Saturday.

Tickets are £12.50. Concessions priced £10 are available for Tuesday evening and Saturday matinee performances. Family tickets (2 adults, 2 children) are also available for £45.
