For the third year running, the HiQ fast fit network is the teams’ championship sponsor of the BTCC and is teaming up with the Guardian to offer 10 pairs of weekend race passes to lucky readers.
The BTCC is the UK’s premier motor racing series and HiQ is offering the prize to readers for the second race weekend at Donington Park in Castle Donington on 14th and 15th April.
The high octane action promises to be more exciting than ever, with champion Matt Neal looking to head off all challengers to his crown, as a number of speedsters renew their rivalries.
No fewer than ten different models from nine different makes will be rolled out by the 14 teams which will contest this year’s BTCC.
The HiQ fast fit network recently announced its sponsorship of the Teams’ Championship for the third time, after previously enjoying a successful two year stint as title sponsor of the series.
Donington Park motor racing circuit was the first permanent park circuit in England.
Its first motorcycle race took place on Whit Monday 1931 on the narrow lanes of the Donington Hall Estate. In 1933, the track was widened, made permanent and became a venue for Grand Prix car racing.
The second world war put an end to all racing at the circuit in 1939, after being requisitioned by the Ministry of Defence to be used as a military vehicle depot.
In 1971 it was purchased by Tom Wheatcroft, who sponsored drivers at various levels and amassed the largest collection of motor racing cars in the world. Now known as the Donington Grand Prix Exhibition, his classic car collection moved to the circuit soon after he purchased it.
Since then Donington has become the home of motorcycle racing and the circuit is now a favourite with fans.
