Whitwell: Buffalo Gals bringing a musical slice of the old mid-west to town

Buffalo Gals are at the forefront of the American roots scene in the UK and Europe.

They represent the revival of the string band tradition in its most vibrant form.

Their style incorporates blues, gospel and early bluegrass as well as novelties from the heyday of early country music, and their trademark step-dancing.

This combination of a love of early music sounds with fresh arrangements and an eye for entertainment means they appeal all ages.

Regulars at all the big folk and bluegrass festivals, the visual and musical appeal of their performances, together with their humour, makes them a prime draw.

Their Whitwell show is at the Community Centre on 9th May.
