TV’s Friar Tuck joins fun of Robin Hood Festival

Phil Rose, who played Friar Tuck in the Eighties series Robin of Sherwood, delighted visitors to Sherwoood Forest.

He was a special guest at the 31st annual Robin Hood Festival where he spent the day talking to young and old fans and signing pictures from his time in the hit TV show.

The crowds heard how Phil is to take part in an audio project on the Robin of Sherwood series. The story – The Knights of the Apocalypse – was penned by the TV show’s creator Richard Carpenter after the end of the third series, but never filmed.

Bafflegab Productions are working on an audio version of the latest story which is due for release in early 2016.

The festival continues until Sunday, August 9, with a packed programme of attractions for all the family.

Robin Hood (Steve Warrington) and the Sheriff of Nottingham (Mark Williams) are taking part in daily battles.

During this year’s Robin Hood Festival, visitors can post selfies #sherwoodselfie and you could win a pair of tickets to see Hood - The Legend Continues, a production at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham, on Friday, September 18.

Nottinghamshire Couinty Council, which organises the festival, has also teamed up with Forest Holidays to offer the opportunity to win £500 towards a self-catering break, staying in a luxury cabin in the heart of Sherwood Forest.
