Princess Ida will be staged at Dronfield Civic Hall

Comic opera is coming to Dronfield with a production of Princess Ida.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s work is set in a women’s university which is infiltrated by a lovestruck prince and his friends disguised as women students.

The opera will be staged by Meersbrook Park Church Operatic Society at Dronfield Civic Hall from Tuesday, March 3, to Saturday, March 7, at 7.30pm. For tickets, contact 0114 2557634.

The society, which focuses entirely on Gilbert and Sullivan compostions, last staged Princess Ida in 1998.

Formed in 1926, the society’s annual run of shows was only broken by the Second World War.
