Christmas is a Kick in the Baubles this year

CHRISTMAS is all about family... and this certainly rings true in A Kick in the Baubles, playing at the Old Nick Theatre in Gainsborough next week.

Gainsborough Theatre Company’s adaptation of the hilarious Gordon Steel play about a dysfunctional family Christmas promises to be a cracker.

“It’s a fun filled farce for all the family,” said John Derbyshire, who plays nuisance neighbour Gary in the show.

Although John warns parents there is a little bit if bad language, so kids’ ears might have to be covered.

The play follows the Bailey family at Christmas. Dad Frank (Phil Young) is a man on the edge - he’s just lost his job and must face the trials and tribulations of a ‘happy’ family Christmas.

Daughter Millie (Sue Smith) has decided she’s moving out of the family home and in with her posh boyfriend Darren to prove to her parents she’s not a failure.

And to top the turkey, neighbours Gary and his nearly-pregnant wife Julie have a dinner disaster and end up hi-jacking the family’s festivities.

After too much to drink, the day spirals out of control resulting in rage, romps and ridicule.

Will the naughty neighbours tip Christmas over the edge? Will Frank and Jean persuade their daughter not to leave home?

You will have to be there to find out.

“Rehearsals are going brilliantly, everyone is really looking forward to this play,” said John.

“We are up to speed and on track for the opening night which promises to be a corker.”
