South Yorks: Sunset Sons set to surf into Sheffield for tour date at The Leadmill

The Anglo-Australian four-piece have been revealed as one of the 15 acts on the prestigious BBC Sound of 2015 shortlist.

They are also one of MTV Brand New’s tips for next year.

It’s been quite a journey for the four surfing-mad musicians from Hossegor who began their year playing to their dedicated community of fans in the Alps, and are ending it firmly established as one of the bands to watch for 2015.

The release of their EP No Bad Day in November – which followed up their self-released debut EP Le Surfing EP earlier in the year – brought them to the attention of the wider world.

Among their champions were Radio One, who immediately pupt the band on their Introducing and In New Music We Trust playlists.

they were also c-listed by Absolute Radio and made XFM’s record of the week, as as as being put on their daytime playlist.

Currently writing their debut album in Hossegor, Sunset Sons are a band brought together by a love of two things – music and surfing.

Originally formed as a covers band to tour the Alps for a little cash, they soon found themselves at the centre of a major label A&R scru.

They eventual signed to Polydor Records and their first short UK tour sold out mainly from word of mouth.

Now they are back wiht a new single due out in March and a new tour which is at The Leadmill on 9th March.
