Review: Legally Blonde The Musical

LEGALLY Blonde The Musical is officially my new guilty pleasure.

It’s a feel good musical full of strong singing, humour, superb choreography - and lots of pink!

The multiple award-winning show is currently on a two-week stop in Sheffield.

It’s a modern fairytale of a Malibu ‘princess’ who find sher true love, but only once she realises her own true worth as a lawyer.

Faye Brooks plays the lead Elle Woods and is fabulous. From start to finish she is charming, energetic and brilliant and lights up the stage one song after another.

Les Dennis (of Family Fortunes fame) plays Professor Callahan surprisingly well and shone in his big solo number about being a legal shark, Blood in the Water.

Ray Quinn couldn’t be more suited to his role as Warner, while Niki Evans (X factor) is brilliant as quirky hairdresser Paulette.

One of the highlights of the show was the jail scene where there is a fitness routine in jail. The cast are dressed in bright orange jumpsuits and perform a tricky yet visually amazing routine with skipping ropes.

A comedy highlight are the scenes with the UPS delivery man - a seemingly small role which ends with the cast in a Riverdance routine.

And of course the two unphased cute dogs have the audience in the palms of their paws whenever they appear.

Legally Blonde is at the Lyceum Theatre until 25th February.
