But I was more than happy to be tucked in my little corner of Nottingham’s Theatre Royal to see this fabulous stage version of Dirty Dancing.

Set in the summer of ‘63, it’s the perfect love story, as Dr. Jake Houseman’s youngest daughter Baby becomes transfixed with the resort’s dishy dance instructor Johnny ‘Snake Hips’ Castle.

But trouble lies ahead and with plenty of passion and romance, the two fiercely independent youngsters fall in love and become inseperable in their bid to prove people wrong.

Like the film, the show begins with the drop-dead gorgeous cast exploding onto the stage along to some heart-pounding music.

Hearts fluttered as all the hits were featured - Hungry Eyes, Hey Baby and Do You Love Me? - with the audience foot-tapping and clapping along throughout the show.

And it’s all smiles at the end as Johnny and his girl dance their way to happiness to the unforgettable I’ve Had the Time of My Life.

Lewis Kirk was brilliant as Johnny, while Jessie Hart played Baby superbly throughout, and Claire Rogers was perfect for the part of Penny.

Dirty Dancing runs until June 14. Tickets are £48.50 and £70. To book visit trch.co.uk or call 0115 989 5555.
