Retford: Magical beauty of Swan Lake coming to the Majestic Theatre

Classical ballet takes centre stage at Retford this month when the highly acclaimed Vienna Festival Ballet Company returns to the Majestic Theatre to present Swan Lake.

Swan Lake is probably the greatest and most popular of all ballets and this production offers imaginative glamorous costumes and beautiful sets which project colour and vitality to enhance the workings of the dancers, choreographers and the composer.

The production includes all the essential ingredients to appeal to a wide audience base from youngsters wishing to see the art of ballet live on stage to those wishing to enjoy an evening offering a good story combined with music and dance.

The story centres around Prince Siegfried. While out hunting, the Prince meets with a flock of swans led by a Swan Queen who is under the evil spell of a magician, Baron Rothbart.

He falls in love with the Queen of the Swans and tries to free them all.

However, the magician has a few tricks up his sleeve. Will everything turn out well for the Prince and the Queen of the Swans?

With the famous music by Tchaikovsky, Swan Lake remains the greatest ballet of them all and a treat for all those who flock to sample it again and again.

Swan Lake is on at The Majestic on Friday, 18th April at 7pm.

Tickets priced £19 (£17 OAP, £12.50 children) are available from the box office on 01777 706866.
