Mobility scooter accidents spur training sessions
Residents are urged to sign up for mobility scooter training sessions to reduce the risk of accidents involving vehicles.
Nottinghamshire County Council has provided a £3,000 grant to run morning and afternoon sessions at the following places:
l Hassocks Lane Fire Station, Beeston on November 18;
l Retford Fire Station on December 2;
l Mansfield Fire Station on December 9.
There were 18 reported accidents involving a mobility scooter in Nottinghamshire from 2012 to 2014, including one accident involving a rider who was seriously injured.
The sessions will involve starting and stopping, reversing and parking.
